Site: Movie Review Site (undisclosed URL)
Business Model:
Provide abrasive and funny movie reviews for cult classics and new releases. No revenue model.
Task:
The site was seeing about 150 unique visitors a day and had been at that level for about two years. The client wanted to increase search engine traffic and create a revenue stream that not only paid for the site but gave them a reasonable amount of income.
Solution:
The site was redesigned from the ground up with a focus toward on-site optimization. When the new site was complete, strategic link trading and one-way link building was put into place which furthered the site’s power, presence, and authority. Once the search engine results began to settle in and traffic exploded, advertising possibilities were discussed and implemented.
Business Results:
The site’s traffic increased from 150 unique visitors a day on December 1st, when I accepted the project, to an average of 1000 unique visitors a day (see before and after below) from February 1st on. Further work has increase traffic to nearly 3000 uniques a day. The client’s site is now in the top 10 for one of the largest ‘movie review’ search phrases and has found advertisers that pay for every thousand page views. This site now produces a solid income of several hundred a month and growing.
