Site: Movie Review Site (undisclosed URL)

Business Model:
Provide abrasive and funny movie reviews for cult classics and new releases. No revenue model.

Task:
The site’s web designer left the project and the remaining owners to fend for themselves. The site’s traffic was roughly 150 unique visitors a day, and had been at that level for approximately two years. The client wanted to increase search engine traffic and create a revenue stream that not only paid for the site but gave them a little extra money to play with.

Solution:
When the partner left they let the host account default and seize the original site.  This left the site owners with no website or past content. The only available option was to completely redesign and rebuilt the site with search engine optimization in mind from the ground up. When the new site was complete, strategic link trading and one-way link building was put into place which furthered the site’s power, presence, and authority. Once the search engine results began to settle in and traffic exploded, advertising possibilities were discussed and implemented.

Business Results:
The site’s traffic increased from 150 unique visitors a day on December 1st, when I accepted the project, to an average of 1000 unique visitors a day (see before and after below) from February 1st to present. The client’s site is now in the top 10 for one of the largest ‘movie review’ search phrases and has found advertisers that pay for every thousand page views. As soon as all the ad slots are purchased they should easily surpass their desired income levels.
